About Us
History
Perinton Churches Housing, Inc. (PCH) was incorporated in 1970 as a New York State chartered not-for-profit corporation owned by a coalition of fourteen Perinton area churches and Fairport Baptist Homes. The mission of PCH is to provide quality affordable independent housing for low-to-moderate income seniors. The board of directors is composed of one representative from each church and three directors from the Fairport Baptist Homes.
PCH initiates and develops affordable housing for seniors through partnership with private enterprises. Funding is accessed through grants and other public and private sources to ensure that the housing will be affordable for targeted low-to-moderate income senior residents. Through financial and management support we have contributed to creative solutions to meet the daily needs of our seniors. Two major projects were initiated and developed by Perinton Churches Housing; Fairport Apartments located adjacent to the Fairport Baptist Homes on Whitney Road are 104 apartments organized in 13 buildings with a central Community Center. This complex was originally constructed with pre-fabricated concrete modules and flat roofs. The building was completed and dedicated in October 1972. While modern at the time, this design became dated and expensive to maintain. Working together with Fairport Baptist Homes, a complete renovation of these apartments and the community center was completed in 2012.
Jefferson Park Apartments offers 69 low-to-moderate income apartments for seniors. The apartments and common areas in a two-story building are located on Jefferson Avenue. This modern complex was developed in partnership with private corporations and occupancy began in 2000.
Shortly after the renovations of Fairport Apartments were completed, the PCH board began exploring possibilities for building new affordable senior housing in Perinton. After years of searching, PCH obtained the rights to build on a 10-acre lot on Baird Road. This property is now known as Midvale Commons. It will be ready for occupancy in Fall 2024.
